High pressure amplifies across the state bringing record breaking temperatures over the next couple of days. By Sunday afternoon this system breaks down and you'll see temperatures back to average by early next week. You may want to break out that jacket though for Monday and Tuesday since it's expected to be the coolest nights on tap since this season started.

Weather Story for Thursday, October 9, 2014
Weather Story Today: Only scattered to isolated showers today across portions of southeastern Arizona as that low trough brushes across the the state and exits later on today. Today expect temperatures in the lower 80's and overnight lows in the lower 60's across the Tucson metro. This weekend we will see a warming trend. We are back to the 90's by Saturday which is 3-5 degrees above average for this time of year.

Weather story: October 2, 2014
Weather story today: Today expect temperatures into the lower 90's, which is about average for this time of year. High pressure aloft will drag in a warming trend for the weekend and into early next week where we could see temperatures 3-6 degrees above average. Models are hinting at an increase of moisture moving across Southern Arizona by the middle of next week from a decaying tropical depression, which could bring in a chance of scattered showers and some cooler temperatures.

Weather story for today: Happy October! Cold front clipping the four corners of our state, which could increase wind speeds to 20 mph today as that cold front brushes through. Thereafter, high pressure works its way into Arizona, bringing about a warming trend with mostly clear skies for the weekend ahead and for early next week.
